1. How do I use the SD?
In Chicago, we're blessed with choices-by one count, there are more than 500 elementary schools in the City. Whatever your preference, one thing is certain, the more informed you are, the more comfortable you will be with your school choice. We've done most of the leg work for you, so try to check out as many programs as you can to get a good sense of what's out there. We hope this directory will help you in your decision-making process. Take it with you during the open houses and jot down your thoughts.
2. Why is there only one volume for 2009/2010?
We are very proud to announce that the 2009/2010 NPN School Directory lists over 500 schools, of which over 400 offer a Preschool program. Each school listing includes: contact information, application dates, tuition costs, entrance requirements and much more. 3. Does the SD include private and public schools?

4. How did NPN get the school information?
Beginning in January of each year, we contact public and private schools and solicit them for updated information. School administrators and parent groups review the current information and submit changes. Hundreds of requests were then reviewed, edited and then inputted into the online school directory. For public schools, we obtained much of the information (test scores, special needs, ethnic stats) from the CPS website. Schools participate in this process because they believe in the value that the SD provides to parents. Also, this free service to the school helps to market its programs.
5. Why are certain schools excluded from the directory?
As mentioned above, we try to get the school information directly from the school. Many schools have never heard of the school directory nor its benefits. Therefore, we received no or little information about its program. For these schools, we decided to exclude them from the SD. We need your help to encourage schools to participate in the SD. If it would benefit you to have the school info, then it will probably benefit hundreds of other parents as well. Schools may contact the school directory committee schooldbase@npnparents.org.
6. Do you ship the SD?
Yes. NPN has hired an outside service to ship the SD. This handling and shipping cost is added to the SD purchase price.
7. May I pick-up the SD?
Yes. Our NPN school directory is available for purchase at Flourish Studios for $30. Flourish is located at 3020 N. Lincoln Avenue, and directories will be available for purchase during store hours. To check for store hours, contact Flourish Studios at (773) 281-8140 or www.icanflourish.com.
8. What is the cost to purchase the SD?
The SD cost will be as follows (excluding shipping, handling and sales tax). Credit Card payments only. No checks or cash.

9. I am a member but the order form will not allow me to select the member price.
We require verification that you are a member in order for you to obtain the member price. This is done by logging into the website. Request for your member id and password to be sent to you via email. If you are having problems logging in, fill out the Contact us form to obtain additional help. Please do not call us and give your credit card info. Our volunteers do not have the ability (and we don't want the responsibility) to process credit card payments. All credit card payments are handled by an outside service that has a very secure website and process to protect your privacy.
10. How many directories may I buy at the member price?
Members can order up to 12 copies at the member price. Volume discount available when purchasing 12 or more.
11. If I become a member after I pay the non-member SD price, do I get a discount on the membership?
Sorry, no we do not give a discount on the membership price.
12. I cannot pay by credit card. Is there an alternative way to pay?
No. We currently do not have a volunteer to handle check payments. All checks received will be returned via mail.
13. How often do you update the SD?
NPN volunteers update the online SD on a weekly basis.
14. May I purchase the NPN SD at the school fair?
Yes. Members and non-members may purchase the SD. Cash and checks accepted. Membership will be verified to obtain member price.

16. How can I help?

Remember, we are an all volunteer organization and most of us volunteer only once per week. Please be patient on the response time of your inquiry.
